Giving You the Perfect Shot
At Black Canyon, we've gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure
you get the "perfect shot" of coffee in your drink, for every coffee,
every time.
We start by selecting only the highest grade green arabica coffee
beans. Arabica is milder tasting, with much less caffeine that its
rough and tumble robusta relative, but it's delicate and rather stingy
with its fruit. Each arabica tree produces less than one kilogram of
coffee per year.
Then we roast the beans in our own roasting facility. Unlike most
other coffee shops, we don't believe in the "one size fits all"
approach used by our competitors. Some coffee drinks require the bold
aggressive taste of an Italian espresso roasted coffee, while others
are better with a lighter French roast.
Making the perfect shot requires that we start with exactly the
right amount of exactly the right coffee, so after we roast the beans
just right, we package them into individual sachets holding just enough
coffee for one perfect shot.
When you order a Black Canyon Coffee drink, one of our specially
trained baristas - that's an expert in the art of espresso making -
selects and opens a sachet of the right coffee for the drink you
ordered. The whole beans from the sachet are then freshly ground and
immediately brewed using an Italian made espresso machine. As with many
things in life, timing is everything, and it's no different when it
comes to making the perfect shot. Each coffee has it's own precise
amount of brewing time that it should require. Too long, and the coffee
will be too strong and bitter, too short and it will be weak.
